I haven’t messaged this list since before my son was born, and now he is 2 😱 honestly, I’ve barely been socializing (with adults, that is), let alone organizing events! but now I finally have a couple gatherings to share:
Saturday, July 19 — Postrats in the Park is baaaack baby! Picnic + book swap at Dover Street Park in Oakland. Details and RSVP at the link. (Also, do you mind signal-boosting the announcement on X? Thanks!)
Thursday, July 24th to Sunday, July 27th — Other Life NorCal retreatin Arnold, CA, 3-ish hours from the Bay Area. Theme: "Slow Work: Build Now to Peak Later." I'll be there with my husband and toddler 💗 Childcare is included. Only a couple slots left so [infomercial voice] act now!
(if you also subscribe to my main newsletter, sorry for the repeat)
To be notified of future events in the Bay Area that I am hosting, attending, or generally consider cool, sign up for this mailing list.
When:Sunday, February 26, 3pm – 6pm, with the option to keep hanging out afterward if people feel like it.
Where:Two Pitchers Brewing @ 2344 Webster Street in Oakland, a 10-minute walk from 19th Street BART. (Food from Lovely’s and non-alcoholic drinks are also available at the beer garden.)
What:Q&A + show & tell with Casey Rodarmor, the notorious rascal behind Ordinals. General socializing is also permitted.
For a dissection of the controversy, you’ll have to show up in person and ask Casey why the blazing laser eyes turned toward him. “Ordinals and inscriptions are a love letter to Bitcoin, the Internet, programming, and the World Wide Web,” sayeth Casey. Accordingly, someone uploaded Doom, because of course lol.
Meetup logistics:Day-of I will arrive early and post specific directions to a table within Two Pitchers, in the outdoor area if weather permits. Hedgehog, the company I work for, graciously agreed to sponsor the first few rounds — so if you show up at the beginning, you’re drinking on us 🦔 This deal includes fries. Hope to see you there!
I’m leading a zine workshop at this one-night festival in SF on Saturday, September 24. The occasion will be exuberant! Shakespearian delirium encouraged.
Join us for an experimental art party at The Commons where we will be playing with the concept of multiple and shifting identities: your online persona, your social role, your maximally actualized dream self, your schizo anonymity, your suppressed side, your shadow.
This is an identity playground. We’ll explore the blurring, separating, and meta-formation of identities and celebrate the gathering of various communities. There will be masks, experiential spaces, zines, musical jams, DJs and more.
Venue: 540 Laguna Street, San Francisco, CA 94102
Time: 7pm – 1am, Saturday, September 24
Early bird tickets are $30 up until Sept 18th. Late bird tickets will be $45. Proceeds will go towards covering art/decorations and a DJ.
Whattup kids. The first picnic, on Sunday, August 7, is a Red Scare meetup. Red Scare is a podcast that I don’t listen to, but I appreciate its impact on internet culture. /r/redscarepod and the exclusive offshoot /r/redscare4girlsandgays are fun. Info:
Sunday, August 7th 2pm – ? @ Dolores Park [in the Mission neighborhood of SF], BYOB • Look for the Virgin Mary tapestry, probably in the overlook above the playground
Def gonna come through, see you there?
On Saturday, August 20, I’m hosting a functionally quite similar event in Berkeley, in honor of my friend Ivy Astrix being in town.
No need to RSVP, you can just show up. The picnic is bring-your-own-whatever, plus some to share. (There are also plenty of quick food options nearby.) Day-of I will post our exact location on the lawn.

You subscribed for thinky posts four or five years ago. My Substack once again lives, but the purpose of this newsletter is changing. It'll be used for tpot ("this part of Twitter") / postrat / general internet weirdo community organizing in the SF Bay Area. Stay subscribed if that’s up your alley, otherwise thanks for your time and sayonara with love!
